the blog world is always a little depressing for me this time of year. everyone seems to be days and weeks ahead of us here in the north. they are enjoying warm temperatures and blossoming trees.here we are behind the rest of the world , slowly waking up from our hibernation . but there are signs, large puddles are forming where snow used to be, mud ( a necessary evil) and pussy willows , they are not blossoms but they are a promise that some will be here soon. at our building project the boiler was finally started this week and as the house finally warmed up I am told that a couple of butterflies emerged from their cocoon in the den !

no one was a more reluctant digital photographer than i was. i hated the idea, in large part because it meant reinvesting in gear and starting at the bottom again. when my film camera broke , i went without a camera for two years. when my husband gave my my first digital camera ,it sat untouched for another year. finally i took a class online and began again. i am grateful for all that the digital age has allowed me to learn. the instant feedback of that LCD screen was what i needed to take my photography to the next level. i have easily taken 70,000 shots in the last 3 years, something that would have been impossible with film , and i am grateful . however maybe because i am old fashioned but the loss of film always tugged at me . i am excited to be going back ( in part) to were i came from.
march messes with a persons head. one day it is spring, birds are singing , snow is virtually gone, roads are clear of ice and i think O.K. … time to get your butt outside and run.
the next morning it is a snowing, blowing , blizzard and it is the depth of winter again ( well at least that is what is feels like) the logical thing to do in this situation is turn to sugar … in large quantities!
that is where my love of food blogs come in, i know, i know, they have great salad and dinner recipes too, but really who looks at those??!! some of the most amazing photographers i follow are food bloggers , a testament to doing one thing over and over and becoming and expert at it. meet Hannah Queen ,i discovered her work soon after i joined Flickr 3 years ago and imagine my shock when after several months i discovered she was just 18 yrs at the time! she already had a popular blog and her photography always inspired me . take a moment to check out her blog and make yourself something sweet today. excuse the huge link below but my dashboard wont let me put a link in a word… maybe it needs some sugar.

i tend to rush things… look forward to what is ahead rather than enjoy what is here. that is especially true this time of year. i am desperately looking forward to warmer weather and signs of spring. however i have to admit that cold afternoons can have their charm , especially when paired with the right things…. warm bread from my oven, homemade jam from last summers bounty, some spring purchased at the local grocer and a good magazine. every once in a while i manage to live in the moment!
it’s thursday again already, the weeks are flying by. it feels like my head has been filled with interior design forever as we build our house. i have been loving these chairs from afar , trying to decide if i want to go vintage or new , so when i received an e-mail from Madernica that they were producing fibreglass shell chairs again with the original Eames factory parts my dilemma was solved. now my issue is white or natural… what do you think?

my learning curve continues as i install new editing hardware . it will be worth it, this time next week i will be so glad i did ,but for this morning it is frustrating. i am not sure where to start and even a simple edit is beyond me. it was silly not to order the book with the program, now i am waiting expectantly for the UPS man to come to my rescue. so for now i will take a deep breath ,wait and get some joy out of others work.
these are all so beautiful ..
